Tasting notes: Date, Strawberry, Blueberry

Sweet and juicy, rich and fruity. The body has rich hints that remind us of dates, the acidity really reminds us of a juicy strawberry, and there’s a fresh blueberry note that shows up at the end, which adds some nice complexity.

This is a specialty light roast that shines brightest in pour over -- brew methods that let the complexity of the bean come through clearly. If you want something fun, try it as a cold brew.

Roast Level: Light or City
Process: Natural
Farmer: María Cristina Martínez Sánchez
Location: Marcala, Honduras
Elevation: 1,245 meters
Varietal: Bourbon, Catuai, Typica

About the origin: Perched in the mountains of Marcala, Honduras, the La Nueva Esperanza Coffee Farm sits at 1,245 meters where cool mountain air and fertile soil give the coffee cherries the time they need to develop something special. María Cristina Martínez Sánchez has farmed this land in partnership with COMSA, a cooperative known across Honduras for its commitment to quality, organic methods, and fair trade practices. Her Bourbon, Catuai, and Typica varieties are processed naturally. The coffee cherries are dried whole in the fruit under the sun, a method that lets the fruit slowly impart its full character into the coffee beans over several weeks, producing the kind of depth and sweetness that washed coffees simply can't replicate.

Roasted to order in small batches and delivered personally by Neal. You will receive it before the peak flavor window opens, so every day of freshness is ahead of you.
